The Washington Ballet-Joseph Coleman Studio

Washington DC
Commercial, Cultural

The Washington School of Ballet is recognized nationally and internationally for its classical training and dedication to excellence in dance and dance education. The Joseph C. Coleman Studios at Cathedral Commons serves as a campus of the institution, helping train a part of the institution's 900 students each year.

The design had to underpin the practicality and bespoke elegance of the dancers themselves. Using clean lines and subdued architectural elements, the classrooms are free to make the most of natural light, while in the darker interior, support spaces employ creative lighting accents and color coding for wayfinding.
