Charged with the vast renovation and rebranding of Avenue Suites—formerly Washington Suites Georgetown—the HD+ team working hand-in-hand with Mark McInturff Associates settled on a sleek, timeless, and modern design to best complement the hotel’s warm, modernist architecture. Situated between the Georgetown and West End Districts, Avenue was designed to attract a sophisticated guest looking for an alternative to the traditional Washington hotel. Natural materials prevail throughout the lobby level—an open, fluid space defined by architectural pods. Fine lines and a refined elegance reign as one passes through the lobby to A Bar, a discreet outdoor bar, and the perfect place to escape the afternoon sun. Black and white photography portraiture strewn about the hotel reinforces the 1950s design aesthetic, and the spacious one-bedroom suites are sophisticated and comfortable. The courtyard at the back is a green room that extends the feel of the interior space.
